Dr. Regina Olasin recently accepted a nomination to the Board of Directors of Catskill Hudson Area Health Education Center (Catskill Hudson AHEC), which is a non-profit organization that addresses healthcare workforce shortages as well as promotes healthcare career education and awareness throughout an eleven county region.  This region includes Columbia, Delaware, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Otsego, Putnam, Rockland, Schoharie, Sullivan and Ulster.  Catskill Hudson AHEC is one of nine AHECs in New York State.

Since 2005, Dr. Olasin has been the Medical Director of the Center for Discovery in Harris, NY, which is a residential facility for the medically fragile and developmentally disabled.  From 2002 to 2005, Dr. Olasin served as the Senior VP/ Director of Medical Affairs for Catskill Regional Medical Center.  She began her medical education at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1975, interned at Memorial General Hospital in Union, NJ, completed her combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at St. Michaels Medical Center and the Beth Israel Medical Center both located in Newark, NJ and received her Masters of Public Administration from NYU in 1977.  She is currently a Fellow of the American Academy of Physicians as well as a Diplomat of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians.  Dr. Olasin received numerous awards, grants and scholarships during her medical career, has been published in the National Journal of Rural Health and is a former Board Member for the North Central Pennsylvania AHEC from 1995 – 1996, as well as a member of the Statewide Steering Committee, PA AHEC.  Lastly, she has been a professor, instructor, or presenter on many occasions since the mid 90’s, all while maintaining memberships in various professional and health organizations.
