Henry Weil, MD

Dr. Weil is a physician at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY. He is married to Rebecca Reynolds and has three children (all boys). Bassett Healthcare is an integrated health system delivering care in a 5,000 square mile area of Central New York State.

Dr. Weil is currently Assistant Dean for Education at Columbia’s medical school, the College of Physicians and Surgeons, and co-leads Columbia’s new medical school campus at Bassett. This new campus admits 10 students each year (eventually will have 40 student enrollees at any given time). The new campus has special focus on training future physicians with a deep understanding of human relationships; and on training future leaders of more integrated health systems, which give better, safer and less costly care.

Previously, Dr. Weil has served as Bassett’s director of the medicine residency and director of medical informatics, amongst other roles. He attended Hamilton College, Columbia’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, internal medicine residency and chief residency at Bassett, and for several years he was an attending physician and one of four assistant internal medicine residency directors at The Harlem Hospital Center in New York City.
